SYLLABUS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY I


I. COURSE TITLE: INTEGRATED SCIENCE

II. COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Integrated Science Course is an intermediary science subject that deals with the basic ideas of physics, chemistry, biology and earth science. It is presented in a logical manner that aims to enhance the scientific skills and provide concepts and principles about science and technology for first year high school students.

Hence, the course provides experiments and learning activities that will give students opportunities to gain direct learning experiences. It furthermore helps students develop scientific skills and catch values that are essential for the continuous study of science and technology.

III. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the school year, the students are expected to:
A. acquire introductory knowledge, skills and attitudes in the following branches of science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science;
B. develop scientific process skills in solving problems in the laboratory and in daily life;
C. demonstrate desirable scientific, analytical and critical-thinking attitudes and values; and
D. integrate the acquired knowledge, attitudes and skills in the exercise of social awareness and responsibility to society and environment.
